The following is the official birthstone list from the American National Association of Jewellers. Officially adopted in 1912, these gemstones represent the birthstones that are accepted today in the United States.

The modern birthstone list includes:

January: Garnet 

February: Amethyst 

March: Aquamarine 

April: Diamond 

May: Emerald 

June: Pearl or Moonstone 

July: Ruby 

August: Peridot 

September: Sapphire 

October: Opal or Tourmaline 

November: Yellow Topaz or Citrine and Turquoise

December: Blue Topaz or Tanzanite. Tanzanite was added to December by the American Gem Trade Association in 2002.
